Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) will study the suitability of
introducing double-decker buses in Penang after the implementation of
its services in Kuala Lumpur this September.
Group managing director Azmi Abdul Aziz said Prasarana is currently analysing the 46 Penang Rapid bus routes throughout the state before making any decision on the matter.
“The study will commence later this year to identify locations which have high density of passengers and demand from consumers,” he said when officiating the bus simulator at Rapid Penang Academy here yesterday.
He said a total of 8,000 passengers used the Rapid Penang services daily with a total of 31 million passengers recorded last year.
“It is dynamic and equipped with graphic displays of actual bus route, complete with moving objects and obstacles to test the efficiency of the bus captain with the actual environment.”
